Dan specializes in helping individuals identify the contribution that trauma and mental illness have played in their addictions. Dan’s mental health approach to addiction began when he noticed a high number of individuals with PTSD who were enmeshed in Alcohol Use Disorder and/or Substance Use Disorder. Dan is trained in EMDR therapy, having positive outcomes with his clientele. He is trained in CBT and Spiritual Therapies: and believes that a number of factors contribute to addiction including, but not limited to; environment, adverse childhood experiences (ACE’s) prescribed medications that lead to addiction, verbal, physical, and sexual abuse, relational trauma, and racial trauma. Dan holds an A.A.S in Human Services from Northeast Iowa Community College, a B.S. in Psychology and a Master of Science in Professional Counseling from Grand Canyon University where he also graduated with honors; maintaining a 4.0 GPA throughout his Master’s Program. Dan has helped countless individuals recover from addiction and address the root cause of their addiction.
